What the....??

I read Jen Lancaster's blog.  She is the author of Such a Pretty Fat and several other wonderful books.  She just blogged about an article in Marie Claire magazine about fat people on tv.  Here are the links to both the article and her blog post.  I will now channel Linda Ritchman from SNL and have you talk amongst yourselves about this article.  Discuss

  7. I just commented yesterday on a gal's blog I follow (she went through infertility thus the reason I follow her). She's been having some hard times. But yesterday, she posted about how she had an incident at a McDonald's drive-thru where the other driver was being a jerk and cut her off, not once but twice. Wouldn't have been so bad but she made a huge deal about the fact that the other driver was severely obese, and she hoped she enjoyed stuffing her fat face with her cheeseburger, as she needed it.

I couldn't not say anything. I commented how I would not have expected this from her, regardless of how bad life is treating her right now.

Why is it that some people think it's okay to bash fat people just for the simple fact that we're fat? It's sad, really, that we have become the new "class" of society that it is okay to talk down about, harrass, and just plain be rude to.

I'll have to watch Mike & Molly. I actually hadn't heard of this show before. Anyone know which station (ABC, CBS or NBC etc.) it's on?

  8. I felt sad after reading that. I felt launched back to 240 pounds and fearful to go out and have fun in case I caught a snicker or grumble. I don't read any "woman's magazines" or let my 12 year old, because they are filled with this warped perception from the articles to the pictures to the advertisements. Her post was insensitive and hurtful and may she come to realize that she is a brainless, heartless twit and be reminded of that fact all the remaining days of her life.
