Well, it is official. I am down to 2 pairs of jeans and 3 pairs of work pants. I had to retire a pair of jeans this week because I have a man crotch when I wear them and that is not attractive on anyone. They make me very self conscience because they are too big....still trying to wrap my head around that one! I have decided that I am retiring the work pants I wore today as well because my butt is hanging down to my knees. My bras are all too big.
My question for you is.....what do you do about the in between clothes? I am too cheap to go out and buy all new clothes for a short period of time. Do you just try and find them on clearance? I don't really even know what size I am now. I think this weekend I am going to just go try some stuff on to see where I stand size wise.

I tend to have a fair bit in smaller sizes that I've held onto 'just in case'!
ReplyDeleteBut I've also started surfing Ebay and bidding on clothes that are a size or two smaller than I am now. I'm like you - I don't want to spend too much on something I'm not going to be able to wear for too long :-)
You should see if there are any clothes swaps happening with some fellow local bandits - that way you give your bigger clothes to some people starting out in their journey and you can get clothes from others who have shrunk out of them :-)
ReplyDeleteotherwise yeah try and get some clothes on clearance but still make sure you like the clothes and they make you feel good. When you wear better fitting clothes more people notice your weight loss too :-)
I went to ross and other discount stores. I bought the bare minimum to get me through-one pair of jeans, a pair of workout pants, a few shirts and two pairs of work slacks. If you buy on the tight side you can get more mileage out of what you buy. I have had to buy three times in 100 pounds. I don't think that is too bad. I did have the first sets in my closet already-26, 24, 22 i had..I bought 18 and 16's. I just got a few 14's. I have been able to wear a few things throughout the whole weightloss process-tshirts, sweatshirts and most of my blouses until recently when they just became too clown like.

I have just bought a few things to get me through, 1 bra, 1 pair of jeans...stuff like that. I did splurge a little yesterday because I hit the 14's again but I am trying to just squeak by on a few clothes until I hit goal.
ReplyDeleteWe have big thrift and consignment shops here that are great for the in between stages. And when you're done with them - you take them in and re-sell them and make money back! Congrats! You have DCS too - dropped crotch syndrome - lol!
ReplyDeleteI've been buying the bare minimum and wearing the heck out of them. Luckily I work in a very small office so no one sees/cares what I'm wearing. Oh, and I wear them till they are falling off!! LOL To me, that's the BEST feeling!
ReplyDeleteI went to Dress Barn and pulled what I thought I'd need in size 20, tried it on, and it was quite loose. So I got a size 18, and they fit, although just a bit snug. I went ahead and bought 2 pairs of size 18 slacks, as they were on clearance, figuring since they were snug, I'd get to wear them for a while before I need to go down in size again.
ReplyDeleteSo definitely go and pull slacks in different sizes and try them on. You might be pleasantly surprised like I was.
BTW, what size do you think you're in?
I have been going cheap. Since I won't wear them long they don't have to be the best quality - at least for me. After my doctor complained that my clothes were way to big and made me promise to buy smaller clothes :) I just ran down to Kmart. I found some clearance and sales clothes that were decent styles. I didn't get a ton, but since I work from home most of the time one of jeans just wouldn't cut it. I still have a few nicer things from before that I use when I need. As I get closer to my goal and my weight loss slows I am going to invest in some nicer stuff.
ReplyDeleteI am in Australia but find the best bargains in the off season.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try getting a few things on eBay; I figure also that if I don't wear them much I can always sell them on. You could also sell your larger clothes on eBay to make some money to buy the smaller sizes
